Born in Hamburg/Germany and has been working as a surgeon in Switzerland since 1994; after 8 years’ activity as Chief Physician of the Department for Plastic Surgery at the Cantonal Hospitals Frauenfeld and Münsterlingen, currently in the Private Clinic Bellevue as Head of the Centre for Plastic Surgery on Lake Constance, Kreuzlingen.

 

Training: Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Specialist in Hand Surgery.

 

Why: Since my first job during the war in Rwanda (1994), I have felt the need to offer help to less developed regions of the world.

Born in Brugg/Canton Aargau and currently working as Co-Chief Physician in the Department for Hand and Plastic Surgery at the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital.

 

Training: Specialist in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Specialist in Hand Surgery.

 

Why: Because of our wealth-related privileges, I feel the need to invest some of my time in developing countries where patients can benefit sustainably and directly from operations or indirectly from the training of local doctors.


MD Florian Jung

Born in Giessen/Germany and has been working as a surgeon in Switzerland for 11 years, currently as Senior Physician and Head of Aesthetic Surgery at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery at the University Hospital Zurich.

 

Training: Specialist in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Specialist in Hand Surgery.

 

Why: I have long been fascinated by the incredible efforts of some of the pioneers from various international INTERPLAST organizations. Since my medical mission in the Gaza Strip in 2007, my aim was to establish this association as an umbrella organisation for plastic surgery in developing countries in Switzerland in order to be able to help even more people in need in developing countries.


MD Abed Jandali

Born in Trossingen/Germany and has been working as a surgeon in Switzerland since 1999, currently as Head of the Department for Hand and Plastic Surgery of the Cantonal Hospital Winterthur.

 

Training: German Specialist for General Surgery, Specialist in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Specialist in Hand Surgery.

 

Why: I am committed to INTERPLAST because thereby I get a lot back at the same time. This kind of medicine I originally started studying, I practise there.


MD Jan G. Poëll

Born in Lund/Sweden and has been living in Switzerland since 1958. He has run his private practice in St Gallen for 30 years. Since 2015, he has been committing only to humanitarian activities.

 

Training: Specialist in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Specialist for General Surgery

 

 

Why: With a well-founded training and long practical experience, it has always been a need for me to help those people suffering who otherwise do not have the access to reconstructive surgery. I have experienced these around the world. Their need is great and their gratitude immense. With INTERPLAST Switzerland I have found the right platform for such humanitarian missions. 


MD Elvira Bodmer

Born in Adliswil/Canton Zurich and currently working as Head of the Department for Hand Surgery of the Cantonal Hospital Zug.

 

Training: Specialist in Hand Surgery and Surgery, a FMH-Member, executive MBA

 

 

Why: You learn a lot from each mission. There are some touching moments. It is an indescribably rewarding experience with foreigners who become friends. A little less hectic and more gratitude would be good for all of us.


MD Dominique Nellie Merky

Born in Schlieren, Zurich. Currently Deputy Head of the Department of Hand and Plastic Surgery at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital.

 

Training: Specialist title Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand and Peripheral Nerves

 

Why: In the Third World, hands are existential. Every operation, even if insignificant from a global perspective, means the world to those affected. At the same time, I see my involvement as a unique opportunity to broaden my horizons.


MD Antonia Regnier-Fellas

Born in Augsburg/Germany and has been working as a specialist in Dermatology and Venereology  in the dermatological practice and hair center Professor Trüeb in Wallisellen/Zurich since 2016. 

 

Training: Specialist in Dermatology and Venereology at the Otto-von-Guericke University Clinic in Magdeburg and in the Helios Dr. Horst Schmidt clinics in Wiesbaden. 

 

Why: The versatility of tropical dermatology has always fascinated me. With some simple medical measures the quality of life can be significantly improved in less privileged countries.


Nicole Leuenberger

From Eglisau, Canton Zurich. Currently working as medical assistant in Hand and Plastic surgery at the Cantonal Hospital Lucerne LUKS. 

 

Training: State examination in 2016, in Zurich. In training for specialist in Hand, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery. 

 

Why: Since childhood I have the dream to work as a surgeon in developing countries to share some of the privileges I have received. Hearing a heartwarming “merci docteur” from a 2 year old Cameroonian boy confirmed to me that all the energy and time that is invested is worth to keep on going.


Robin van den Wildenberg

From Hünenberg See, Zug. Currently assistant doctor in general and visceral surgery at Zug Cantonal Hospital. 

 

Training: State examination 2023 in Zurich. In basic training for a surgical specialisation.

 

 

Why: What began as an adventure during my studies became the motivation to continue to deal with development work in the future, in order to offer people in poorer regions the medical quality that has already become a matter of course for us here.


Manuela Solenthaler

 

 

From Herisau AR, currently working in the Cantonal Hospital Glarus as a diabetes consultant and temporarily as a nurse in various areas of acute medicine.

 

 

Education: Nursing specialist HF and diabetes consultant DAS

 

 

Why: Early in my professional career I felt the desire to work in a humanitarian field. In 2016, I was able to realize this wish in Burkina Faso. Helping people to a new quality of life and future is something wonderful.
